Nearly 200 prospective students and families got the first look at Southeast Missouri State University’s latest Copper Dome Scholarship program during the Summer Showcase event on Friday, July 14. The program offers scholarships for which 70 percent of students are eligible.
“We’re very proud of the financial support our Copper Dome Scholarship program offers to students,” said Lenell Hahn, director of Admissions. “Scholarships are available based on a student’s stackable ACT/SAT superscore, and some scholarships are available without taking an ACT/SAT at all.”
The scholarships are also progressive, meaning they grow in value each year a student is eligible, a feature somewhat unique. Hahn says the event also showcased Southeast’s new One Rate Nationwide approach for all U.S. domestic students, meaning those students will no longer pay out of state tuition. Missouri residents heard about the University’s Will to Do Award which offers beginning freshmen from Missouri who are Pell Grant eligible with a 2.75 GPA $0 in tuition. The Award will cover the gap between  the total amount of their total aid (Pell Grant, state financial aid, and scholarships) and their tuition and general fees.
“What set SEMO apart when making my college decision was the affordability,” said student Dallas Richardson. “Not only is the tuition one of the lowest around the area, but they also offer a multitude of scholarships. Because of this, I have been able to work towards my education debt and stress free.”
Hahn said the Copper Dome Scholarship is a portion of Southeast’s commitment to offering accessible, affordable high quality education. It’s also why one application allows students to apply to SEMO and for scholarships with no application fee.
“We want students to apply. Southeast wants to be the school that helps them pursue their dreams and achieve their goals,” said Hahn.
