“The heart of Southeast Gas is service,” says Southeast Gas President and CEO Greg Henderson. “When we established the Community Service Scholarship 10 years ago, we had an idea of the impact it could have on students across Southeast Alabama. What surprised us, in a good way, was the immeasurable impact that the service of these students has had on their communities. I am extremely proud of the work they are doing and the small way we are recognizing them for their enormous accomplishments.”
Southeast Gas demonstrates its commitment to serving area schools through its Give Back to Schools initiative, which includes the Community Service Scholarship program. Since the scholarship’s inception in 2015, Southeast Gas has awarded more than $325,000 in funding to 219 students to assist with college expenses. Additionally, the company has provided more than $1.6 million in direct assistance to local schools in its service area over the past 16 years.
Southeast Gas volunteers also dedicate their time to improving campuses by offering construction assistance, landscaping, painting, gas appliance maintenance, light carpentry, tutoring, mentoring, and various other activities.
Established in 1952 with a primary mission to help communities experience industrial growth, Southeast Gas is committed to reliably and efficiently supplying natural gas to customers throughout Southeast Alabama. The company serves more than 33,000 residential, commercial, and industrial customers in 36 communities, and is owned by 14 cities in Southeast Alabama: Abbeville, Andalusia, Brundidge, Dothan, Elba, Enterprise, Eufaula, Fort Deposit, Greenville, Headland, Luverne, Opp, Ozark and Troy.
