WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – On Monday, the class of 2026 at Wichita Southeast High School learned they can apply for a $50,000 scholarship grant.
The scholarship comes from the Bhagat Family Foundation, privately funded by 1992 Southeast alumnus Ronal Bhagat.
The student who receives the scholarship needs a 3.0 GPA or above. They also need to write an essay about how they have overcome adversity in their life.
“I am super hopeful that this will be that small fire that ignites some of our students to look within themselves and say it doesn’t matter, it doesn’t matter what your past was it doesn’t matter what you had to overcome,” said Wichita Southeast principal Claudia Cooper. ‘The fact that you overcame is a story within itself and deserving of an opportunity that is as great as this.”
The $50,000 scholarship will be given out every year after 2026 to a deserving students.
