DURANT — With record attendance and lively participation in both live and silent auctions, the annual Gold & Blue Scholarship Gala at Southeastern Oklahoma State University raised more than $50,000 for scholarships on Nov. 2.
The event featured a George Strait tribute performance by Unwound and drew strong support from attendees and donors.
The gala, which began in 2000 and is hosted by the Southeastern Alumni Association, has now raised nearly $700,000 for scholarships over its 24-year history. Proceeds from the event go directly to the Southeastern Foundation to fund scholarships for Southeastern students.
“Thanks so much to all of our attendees and donors for making the Gold and Blue Gala another standout night on the Southeastern campus,” said Southeastern President Thomas Newsom. “The legacy of giving at Southeastern continues to grow, as our alumni have committed to making their university stronger every year by making sure future students have the opportunity to create their own legacy at Southeastern.”
Andrea Mersiovsky, chair of the gala committee, echoed these sentiments, noting the lasting impact of community generosity: “Their generosity truly makes a difference in the lives of Southeastern students,”
