Gladstone High School graduate Brooklyn Pendergraft has been awarded the Mickey Salmon Memorial Scholarship from the Escanaba-based Great Lakes Sports and Recreation Club. From left are Gary Tackman, club vice president, presenting the $400 scholarship to Pendergraft. “This student is both an outstanding academic scholar and a definite asset to our society,” the club posted on its website. Salmon was an avid outdoor sportsman and valued member of GLSRC who dedicated much of his time helping youth in the community, according to the club. Children and grandchildren of members are eligible to apply for this annual scholarship.
