SRU Hosting Vocal Scholarship Competition – ButlerRadio.com

The public is invited to attend a couple of events this weekend on the campus of Slippery Rock University.
The 33rd annual Chad Williamson Memorial Vocal Scholarship competition will take place at 4 p.m. Saturday on SRU’s Swope Music Hall stage. Each student will present up to two selections, and the competition will be judged by a music professor from Bowling Green State University.
The scholarship provides tuition assistance to the top three SRU student finishers in honor of Chad Williamson who graduated from Slippery Rock Area High School and planned to attend SRU to study music but died in a car crash shortly before his freshman year. Tickets for this event are $10 for general admission and $5 for students.
Also, the SRU Department of Dance is hosting its annual Faculty and Guest Artist concert on Saturday beginning at 7 p.m. at the Miller Theater in the Performing Arts Center.
Students will participate as dancers and production staff alongside faculty members and internationally known guest artists. Performances consisting of various styles and techniques will be featured including experimental dance films, Columbian, and hip-hop.
Admission for the show is $15 through the SRU website or at the Smith Student Center information desk.
