CENTRALIA, Ill. (WSIL) — SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital Auxiliary has awarded scholarships to two outstanding team members, Gracie Kelly and Bridgette Joy, as part of its 2025 scholarship program.
Kelly, who works in the Radiology Department, will continue her career at the hospital, focusing on excellence in patient care. Joy, from the Behavioral Health Unit, plans to stay with the hospital as a Registered Nurse, committed to mental health services.
The scholarships are part of the hospital’s initiative to invest in its staff and enhance patient care. Georgia Lambert, Chair of the SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital Auxiliary Scholarship Committee, highlighted the importance of nurturing internal talent.
“It’s important because we want to grow our own and keep them close by. These young ladies exceeded all the expectations we had,” Lambert said. “This scholarship is a testament to how much we care about each other here. It’s important that our new nurses especially know they’ve got a whole team behind them, ready to support them whenever they need it.”
The Auxiliary also supports patient care needs like bariatric beds and pediatric respiratory equipment. The hospital and Auxiliary congratulate Kelly and Joy on their achievements and look forward to their continued contributions to the community.
