For over thirty years, The St. Alfio Society of Lawrence has been awarding scholarships to high school seniors to assist them with their college education. This year the society awarded seven $2,000 scholarships to high school seniors from the class of 2025.
Recipient, Thomas Lynch, North Andover High School graduate, sits with his parents, Ed and Dianne of North Andover during the ceremony. He will major in Neuroscience/Pre-Med at the University of Massachusetts Commonwealth Honors College.
Caroline Melvin of Lawrence, Central Catholic high school graduate, is presented her certificate by Joseph Guilmette, 7, of Lawrence. He was assisting during the ceremony. His father, Richard is a long time member of the society.

St. Alfio Society scholarship chairman, Paul Blais and President, Tony Palmisano, along with society members, presented the awards to the recipients during a breakfast/ceremony held on Sunday, June 1.
A special scholarship was presented on behalf of the Scars Foundation. The Scars Foundation was established by Sully Erna, originally from Lawrence, and a member of the rock group Godsmack, to help raise awareness of the mental health issues that so many are faced with today.
The St. Alfio Society is known for the Feast of the Three Saints, a celebration honoring the faith of three brothers; Saints Alfio, Filadelfo and Cirino and the Italian heritage of Lawrence. The feast will celebrate its 102nd Anniversary this Labor Day weekend in Lawrence.
