A beautiful fall morning greeted those gathered at St. Peter’s College Gymnasium on Saturday, September 20 for its annual Awards Ceremony and Luncheon. It’s an annual celebration of the scholastic and volunteering accomplishments of the latest entrants and upper year students at the College.
This year, the College Awarded approximately $150,000 worth of awards. It’s part of the 120-year tradition of education at the College which has seen students complete high school programming and USask and St. Peter’s College unique programs.
This year marked a first for St. Peter’s with an entirely new set of awards geared toward students in the four-year nursing program. Thanks to a generous $1 million endowment from the Sisters of Elizabeth, 20 scholarships worth $50,000 were handed out at the ceremony. The funds will serve to support nursing students who have undertaken studies at the rural campus in the hopes that their careers will include service to much needed health centres in Saskatchewan’s rural and north.
