Steamboat Mountain School announced a series of merit-based scholarships beginning in the 2025-26 academic year, aimed at recognizing exceptional students across academic, athletic and community pursuits.
These scholarships offer significant financial support and are renewable annually based on academic performance, providing students with long-term benefits as they excel in their educational journey. Steamboat Mountain School sees these scholarships as opportunities to make an SMS experience more attainable for families. 
The SMS Global Scholar Award provides $10,000-$30,000 per year to students who excel academically, demonstrate leadership and have a global perspective. This award supports students eager to make an impact on local and global scales, and recipients are selected based on an essay or video submission.
Priority will be given to those applicants who reside in one of the following states: California, Arizona, Florida, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, Texas and Utah.
The Ski and Snowboard Scholar Award covers the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club program fee for competitive athletes entering grades 9 or 10. This scholarship recognizes outstanding student-athletes committed to academic and athletic excellence.
For local students, the Founder’s Scholarship for Academic Excellence awards $15,000 annually to day students entering ninth grade who exhibit remarkable academic achievements and a passion for learning.
