STRATHAM — The Stratham Historical Society has awarded the 2025 Winfield L. Foote Award for Academic Excellence to nine outstanding students.
Seven students were recognized with $1,500 scholarships, while two others received awards of $2,000 and $2,500, respectively.

The society congratulated the awardees and expressed pride in supporting their academic journeys.In addition, a $2,000 Rising Junior/Senior College Award was presented to Ella Horvath of Stratham, a student at Bryn Mawr College.
The $2,500 Thesis/Dissertation Award for graduate students was awarded to Erica McAvoy, who attends the University of New Hampshire.
These scholarships are made possible through the generosity of the late Winfield L. Foote, a longtime Stratham resident and committed supporter of the society. With this year’s distribution, the society has granted more than $158,000 in scholarships to local students.
Special recognition was given to scholarship committee chair Gary Abreu and members Lucy Cushman, Michael Wade and Susan Canada for their dedication.
