NORTH ALABAMA, Ala. (WAFF) – Over a dozen students in north Alabama are being celebrated on Wednesday after being named as Semifinalists for the 2026 National Merit Scholarship program.

Students from all over North Alabama were named to the list, including in Huntsville, Decatur, Athens, Fort Payne, and the Shoals!
21 students from Huntsville City schools made the list, and 17 from Madison City schools were included.
One student from Decatur, Athens, and Muscle Shoals made the cut, along with two students from Fort Payne and three students from Florence.
