FARGO, N.D. — Ciara Reller, of Bemidji, received the Promising Undergraduate Research Scholarship at North Dakota State University. Reller is a senior majoring in biochemistry and molecular biology with minors in chemistry and biotechnology.
The scholarship recognizes students pursuing a major within the College of Science and Mathematics who are participating in an NDSU faculty-guided research activity and who show high academic achievement. Students are nominated for the scholarship by showing promising initiative in the research groups they were in.

Reller is currently involved in an organic chemistry synthesis research group led by Mukund Sibi, an NDSU distinguished professor in chemistry and biochemistry.
After earning her bachelor’s degree, Reller plans to attend graduate school to pursue a career in biomedical science.
DULUTH — The Marshall H. and Nellie Alworth Memorial Fund has awarded its 2025 scholarships to 97 northern Minnesota students pursuing bachelor’s degrees in fields of study related to mathematics, engineering, the sciences, medicine and scientific research.
Ninety-one scholarships for $24,000 each were awarded to seniors from 33 high schools, with Bemidji High School students Elliott Gieser, Moraya Holleman, Ainsley Kennedy, Samuel Maus and Hazel Olson being among them.
All told, the Alworth Memorial Fund awarded $2,256,000 in its 2025 round of scholarships. Since the Fund’s founding in 1949, it has awarded $58.9 million to 5,491 motivated young people.
Alworth Scholarships are available to students in 60 high schools, plus those who are homeschooled, in 10 northern Minnesota counties, including Aitkin, Beltrami, Carlton, Cass, Cook, Crow Wing, Lake, Itasca, Koochiching and St Louis.
TOLEDO, Ohio — Carrie Lundy, of Bagley, was named to the spring 2025 honors list at Mercy College of Ohio in Toledo for achieving a GPA of 3.3 or higher while enrolled in 6-11 credit hours.
