GRAND BLANC — The Flint AHEPA-Daughters Scholarship Foundation has announced the recipients for this year’s annual scholarships.
Anna Photiou, of Flint, has graduated from Powers Catholic High School this year. She will be attending Grand Valley State University this fall, pursuing a career in nursing and psychology.
She has been awarded the “Eli Chinonis Memorial Scholarship” in the amount of $5,000.
Alexander Photiou, of Flint, has graduated from Powers Catholic High School this year. He will be attending Mott Community College this fall, pursuing a degree in skilled Trades for HVAC.
Alex has been awarded the “Harry and Catherine Yeotis Memorial Scholarship” in the amount of $5,000.
The Flint AHEPA-Daughters Scholarship Foundation fund was established in 1987 to encourage and assist eligible students graduating from a Flint Area high school with plans to enter a university, college, or trade school.
Funds have been raised from many activities and sources over the many years. To date the organization has awarded $103,000 to 93 recipients.
The awards were presented to the recipients during a ceremony at the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, Grand Blanc, on June 9.
