This year’s Tin Whistles Scholars include Kaylee Smith, Keegan Cole-Bryan, Madison Dills, Allyson Flewwellin, Ceilidh Clendenin, Mason Broadway, Grace Queen, Aaron Garner and Miranda Waggoner.
It was eagles across the scorecard at the Pinehurst No. 9 clubhouse on Wednesday as the Tin Whistles honored nine Moore County Schools students at the organization’s annual scholarship luncheon. With biographies that already read like curriculum vitae, the college-bound recipients represent some of the best and most well-rounded members of the county’s 2025 graduating class.
Founded in 1904 and revered as both a cornerstone of the Pinehurst golf community and America’s oldest golfing society, the Tin Whistles have long placed a premium on the game’s customs, courtesies and traditions. While golf is integral to the mission — there was plenty of shop talk at the event — the organization is steeped in philanthropy.
