Nicholls business students will have the opportunity to earn scholarships thanks to an endowment given to the university from a prestigious local business.
The Nicholls Foundation announced this week that it has received $10,000 to endow the Synergy Bank Service Endowed Scholarship in Business.
Bank President and CEO Jerry Ledet, Jr., said it is an honor to give back to the future business leaders of our community.
“We are honored to support this scholarship, knowing it will create lasting opportunities for students at Nicholls State University for years to come,” Ledet, Jr. said. “By investing in education and students, we can help build a stronger, more vibrant community together.”
To qualify, one must be enrolled as a full-time student in the Al Danos College of Business and must also maintain at least a 3.0 GPA.
The recipient must demonstrate a financial need, but can be in any business major. Students can be any classification from a freshman in undergraduate to a graduate student, but they must be from one of the following local parishes:
-Lafourche
-Terrebonne
-St. Mary
-Pointe Coupee
-West Feliciana
-East Baton Rouge
-West Baton Rouge
-Livingston

Synergy Bank has a long history and reputation for giving back to our community through service and it is their hope that the recipient will mirror that philosophy in volunteerism at their high school, college or community.
A scholarship will be awarded per year in the amount of $500 with $250 given in both the fall and spring semesters. The scholarship amounts may increase in the future as the endowment grows.
The Nicholls Foundation would like to thank Synergy Bank for their support.
