The Tehama County Republican Central Committee recently honored three Tehama County High School seniors with scholarships.
The scholarships, which are awarded every year, reflect the recipient’s academic success and commitment to community service.
This year’s honorees are Islyn Bogarin and Hayley Byrd, who graduated this month from Corning Union High School, and Jacey Pray, who graduated from Red Bluff Union High School. The three will each receive $500.
Islyn Bogarin, of Corning, is the daughter of Ruben and Mayra Bogarin. She plans to attend California State University, Chico, and obtain a degree in Communication Science and Disorders in order to become a speech pathologist.
Hayley Byrd, of Gerber, is the daughter of Ty and Regina Byrd. She plans to attend Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas and study Agriculture and communication.
Jacey Pray of Red Bluff, is the daughter of Jay and Carrie Pray. She plans on attending Cuesta College in San Luis Obispo and studying nutrition to become a registered dietician.
Applicants must be members of the current year graduating class from any public, private, charter, or home school located in Tehama County who have maintained at least a 3.0 grade point average in high school.
