The first Terrel Vineyard Memorial Roping was held this past August to raise funds for scholarships to be given in the late cowboy’s name. This spring, the first ever scholarship will be awarded from the Terrel Vineyard Memorial Scholarship Fund.
Vineyard, 27, was tragically killed in June of 2023 doing what he loved the most: riding his horse in the Nebraska Sandhills. He is remembered by many as a cowboy through and through, and in the words of his father, Shawn, was “something special.”
“He was a very caring person,” said Shawn. “Being his parents, we were always biased, but looking back, we weren’t the only ones who felt that way.”
This year, the scholarship fund will award a $1,500 scholarship to a student pursuing higher education. Applications are open to high school seniors and college students at any college or trade school.
The deadline to apply is April 1, 2025. Questions can be directed to Nancy Vineyard via email () or at 308-778-6857.
