The American Kennel Club (AKC®), a not-for-profit organization, the world’s largest purebred dog registry and leading advocate for dogs, is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2025 AKC Junior Scholarships. Scholarships totaling $22,500 were awarded to the following recipients.
“AKC encourages Juniors to try different events and expand their involvement,” says Mari-Beth O’Neill, VP of Sports Services for the AKC. “The commitment and dedication these Juniors have shown to their education and participating in dog shows is impressive. We are so excited to see what the future holds for them.”
Catherine Eychaner from Anchorage, AK
Catherine competed with her Belgian Sheepdog in Conformation, Junior Showmanship, Obedience, Rally and Agility qualifying for the Rally National Championships from 2018-2024 as well as Junior Showmanship at the AKC National Championship.  Catherine is an active member of the Alyeska Canine Trainers as well as the Alaska Herding Group Club, currently teaching Rally classes.  Catherine is interested in studying Astrophysics along with continuing her involvement with Belgian Sheepdogs.
O’Malley McGee from Simpsonville, SC:
O’Malley competed in Juniors with Pointers, Vizslas and German Shorthaired Pointers. O’Malley also competed in Pointing Breed Hunt Tests. O’Malley is a member of the American Pointer Club and the Vizsla Club of America. O’Malley is a Senior at Auburn University with a major in Wildlife Ecology Management. O’Malley plans to continue to breed and compete with Pointers and Vizslas in the future.
Kaitlynn Myers from Leslie, MO:
Kaitlynn competed in AKC events with her Golden Retriever.? Kaitlynn currently competes in Rally working towards a Rally Championship title and Fast CAT.? She is a member of the Dardenne Retriever Club and the Golden Retriever Club of America.? Kaitlynn will be entering her senior year at the University of Missouri majoring in Animal Science.
Isabella G. Ruffoni from Gilroy, CA:
Isabella is an active member of the Pug Dog Club of America and the Northern California Pug Club, competing in Conformation and Junior Showmanship, Isabella has assisted with the National in 2024 with fundraising, set up, and preparing welcome bags.  Isabella has been accepted at Boise State University and plans to study Principals of Biomedical Science.
Carly L. Satterfield from Bowdoinham, ME:
Carly is a breeder and exhibitor of Welsh Springer Spaniels. She is a member of the Welsh Springer Spaniel Club of America, as well as the English Setter Association of America.  Carly has assisted at shows from set up to break down gaining an understanding of what goes into putting on an event.  Carly has been accepted early admission to Wheaton College with an interest in Biology.
Brielle D. Villarreal from Elk Grove, CA:
Brielle is an active member of the Mother Lode Bulldog Club of Sacramento, competing in Conformation and Junior Showmanship. Brielle is an active member of the Sheldon High School Advanced Theater Program.  Brielle will enter college in the Fall studying Political Science and Theater.
Mya Welling from Cincinnati, OH: 
Mya is a third-generation dog enthusiast and member of the Cincinnati Kennel Club.  Mya’s personal dog is an American Hairless Terrier which she successfully competes with in Conformation. Fast CAT and the Family Dog events.  Mya plans to attend Transylvania University in the fall and will study STEM and Finance.
Kelly Williams of Vista, CA:
Kelly is a member of the San Diego Labrador Retriever Club assisting at events as needed. Kelly has participated in Conformation events and Juniors with multiple other breeds.  Kelly will be attending The Author Conservatory studying Writing, Publishing and Business Entrepreneurship.
Ashley YoHo from Stillwater, MN:
Ashley competed in Juniors and Conformation with Shetland Sheepdogs and Golden Retrievers and is a member of the Greater Twin Cities Golden Retriever Club, North Star Herding Group Club and Lochland Shetland Sheepdog Club.  Ashley is a rising Junior at the University of Wisconsin-Madison majoring in Economics, Community & Environmental Sociology.
