Boca Raton, FL – October 21, 2025 — The George Snow Scholarship Fund (GSSF) hosted its 4th Annual High School Counselor Appreciation Breakfast this week to honor and celebrate the dedicated high school counselors of the School District of Palm Beach County. The event recognized the critical role counselors play in helping students pursue higher education and achieve their career goals.
Counselors were treated to a morning of gratitude and inspiration, featuring remarks from Chief of Staff for the School District of Palm Beach County, Dr. Jolande Morgan, and Florida Atlantic University’s Assistant Vice President of Career Services, Brian Montalvo. Each shared their unique perspectives on the lasting impact our local Counselors make in our students’ lives.
During the breakfast, the George Snow Scholarship Fund recognized two standout counseling departments for their exceptional contributions: John I. Leonard High School was awarded High School Counseling Department of the Year for the Large High School Division, and SouthTech Academy was awarded High School Counseling Department of the Year for the Small High School Division. Both schools have made a significant impact on their students’ lives by guiding them through the George Snow Scholarship Fund’s scholarship application process and achieving remarkable success in securing scholarships.
“I want to thank every Counselor for the life-changing work you do each day. Your guidance helps our local students overcome challenges and open doors to brighter futures” said Tim Snow, President of the George Snow Scholarship Fund.
As GSSF looks ahead to awarding scholarships in Palm Beach County in 2026, Counselors will be at the heart of helping students access these transformative opportunities. Scholarship Applications will be available starting Saturday, November 1st, 2025 until Sunday, February 1st, 2026 at Scholarship.org. Qualified applicants must be high school seniors with financial need attending a Palm Beach County–based high school. The George Snow Scholarship does not require a minimum GPA or test score, and recipients may pursue any major at an accredited college, university, technical, trade, or vocational school in the U.S. These are four-year scholarships — students do not need to reapply each year — and all recipients gain access to GSSF’s wraparound Scholar Support Services. Throughout November and December, GSSF’s staff will visit local high schools to help seniors complete their scholarship applications. Students are encouraged to ask their school counseling departments how they can sign up for a GSSF Scholarship Presentation.
The George Snow Scholarship Fund remains deeply grateful to the Counselors, educators, and partners whose dedication continues to open doors for students across South Florida.
