POINT PLEASANT, W.Va. (WV News) — The Parkersburg Area Community Foundation (the PACF) is pleased to announce the recipients of this year’s scholarships from Point Pleasant High School. These awards recognize the academic excellence and community involvement of local students, empowering them to pursue higher education and contribute to their communities.
In total, the Foundation awarded more than $660,000 in scholarships, comprising 320 individual awards. These scholarships are made possible through the generosity of local individuals, businesses, and organizations who believe in the power of education to transform lives.
Each scholarship fund represents more than financial support — it embodies a story of compassion, remembrance, and belief in the potential of our youth. Whether it’s a donor honoring a cherished individual or creating opportunities for students, these funds send a powerful message: “I believe in your education and want to help you achieve your dreams.”
“It is truly an honor to award these scholarships,” said Jennifer Randolph, Scholarship Officer. “Each one embodies the heartfelt intention of a donor, many created to honor the memory of a loved one. Our privilege is to bring those intentions to life—empowering students while honoring legacies that create opportunities for generations to come.”
Among the recipients who were honored from Point Pleasant High School are Naveah Seymour, who received the GFWC West Virginia Scholarship, presented by Georgianna Tillis, and the J. Everett and Hattie Leggett Memorial Scholarship, presented by Patrick Leggett; Isabella Dickens, Destiny Montgomery, and Joseph Shrader, who received the Ross Family Scholarship.
The PACF manages more than 500 endowment funds, helping donors, businesses, and families engage in meaningful philanthropy, creating a ripple effect of positive change across the 11-county service area.
The PACF facilitates grant and scholarship awards in Calhoun, Doddridge, Gilmer, Jackson, Mason, Pleasants, Ritchie, Roane, Wirt, and Wood counties in West Virginia, and Washington County, Ohio.
In 2024, the PACF distributed over $3.5 million in grants, fostering collaboration among local organizations and empowering citizens to make a lasting impact in their communities.
With over $80 million in assets, the PACF continues to serve as a trusted partner in advancing the causes that matter most to its neighbors.
They aim to not only support today’s needs but also to ensure that the region’s philanthropic legacy endures for generations to come
