NEW BEDFORD — Looking to make a difference in the community through volunteering? The SouthCoast Community Foundation is searching for individuals who are passionate about their community to join their team of volunteer readers for its 2025 scholarship program.
As part of the foundation’s commitment to providing access to education, volunteers have the opportunity to play a pivotal role in supporting local students in their pursuit of higher education.
The Foundation awards over $800K in scholarships to students across southeastern Massachusetts each year. These scholarships help students reach their academic goals.
Volunteer readers play a significant role in the scholarship selection process, ensuring a fair and equitable review.
“Your time and perspective can change a life. By volunteering to read scholarship applications, you’re not just reviewing essays – you’re helping unlock opportunities and shaping the future of our community,” said Melanie Edwards-Tavares, president and CEO of the SouthCoast Community Foundation in a press release. “Volunteer readers have the power to make a meaningful difference in the lives of students who will shape the future of our communities.”
