Victory Yinka-Banjo (17) from Nigeria managed to get scholarships from universities across the United States and Canada worth about five million dollars.
The 17-year-old Nigerian was offered more than $5 million in scholarships for an undergraduate program of study, according to admission documents and estimates of financial aid awards.
“I still find it amazing. I applied to many universities because I didn’t even think they would accept me,” Victory told CNNthe
The teenager received a total of 19 offers with full scholarships to: Princeton, Harvard, Yale, Stanford and several others, Telegraph reports.
She noted that multiple scholarship offers made her “feel taller, smile wider, and give myself a pat on the back.”
In Canada, Victorya was awarded a Lester B. Parson Fellowship from the University of Toronto and a Karen McKellin International Leader of Tomorrow Fellowship (KMILOT) from the University of British Columbia.
“Their admissions processes are extremely selective. They only accept the best of the best. I need it every day, though I remind myself that I got accepted into those schools. This is surreal,” she said.
She explained that her major achievements are due to hard work, “They made me feel really proud of the hard work I’ve put into several areas of my life over the years. I’m slowly starting to understand that I deserve them.”
Victory said he hopes to study computational biology. However, she is still weighing which school to choose.
