ANN ARBOR, MI — When some graduating Ann Arbor seniors are getting a financial boost as they head off to college next fall.
Ann Arbor Public School officials announced scholarship honorees for 2025 during the Ann Arbor School Board meeting Wednesday, May 21, and multiple recipients appeared before board members.
The awards are as high as $5,000 in nine programs with $76,300 in total scholarships to AAPS soon-to-be graduates.
Jenna Bacolor, AAPS’ executive director of the student and school health and community division, said seniors have access to a host of scholarships around the area, and she credited Nancy Shore from the district’s strategic partnership office with facilitating applications and offering guidance to donors interested in starting scholarships.
Staff members also wrote recommendations for students. Many are involved, Bacolor said.
Thirteen students were named as recipients of $5,000 scholarships for both sponsored and community awards.

Other recipients received scholarship awards of $2,000 or less. They are:
Huron High School senior Walker Brose is attending the University of Michigan with the $2,000 Kent Overbey Scholarship, awarded to a Huron male senior who participated in cross country.
Huron High School senior Julieta Turon, another future UM student, is receiving the same amount from the Wendy Moorehead Scholarship, an award for female senior cross country participants.
RoFael Jackson Jr., also a Huron senior who’s UM-bound, received $2,000 for the Jane Landefeld Scholarship for participating in sports.
Huron seniors Angela Bolon and Anna Stenger are receiving $1,650 awards for the Lisa Ann Gallagher Scholarship, designated for Huron female graduates with a GPA of 3.2 or higher involved in school sports and the community. Bolon and Stenger are attending UM and the University of Loyola Chicago, respectively.
Community High School senior Sara Grover, who’s headed to Washtenaw Community College, is receiving the Jill Award, a $1,000 scholarship designated for a CHS student who contributed to making the school a happier place.
