There are hundreds of bursaries and scholarships available to students who reside in our community alone, ranging from $200 to $10,000. Last year, many went unclaimed with no applicants. It’s time to do some research!
According to Scholarships Canada, “Over $20 million in scholarship money has gone unclaimed in recent years. In the past few years, around 3% of the scholarships listed by Scholarships Canada went unclaimed or had zero applicants.” That’s thousands of scholarships that had NO applicants at all.

Essays are not always required. Some require only a letter of recommendation, others a transcript or video, audio, podcast, or artistic representations.
It’s not all about academics! There are bursaries specific to areas of study, community service, trades, special needs, financial need, and more.
There are many more memorial awards to review, as well as those from financial institutions. Community organizations such as the Rotary Clubs of Cottam, Harrow, and Kingsville, the Royal Canadian Legion, Knights of Columbus, the Optimist Club, Kingsville Horticultural Society, COPPS for Charity, local businesses, and churches are also very generous in supporting our graduating students.
Grade 12 students at Erie Migration District School have access to the options through their EDSBY accounts. Most deadlines are April 30th, although this varies.
Additional options are posted on the GECDSB and WECDSB’s websites:

Ontario also has a site to search where students can find money to help them pay for college, university, or apprenticeship program after high school.

As a community, Kingsville thanks every local organization that supports the future of our students by opening doors to funding opportunities.
