ONTARIO — The Ontario Noon Kiwanis will award scholarships to three outstanding Chaffey High School graduates on Friday.
Each will receive a $1,000 scholarship based on their academic excellence and their service to the community. These student leaders have coordinated more than 1,600 hours of community service by Chaffey High School Kiwins.
Giovanna Castellanos has been president of the Kiwins at Chaffey High for three years. Alba Estrada was this year’s Kiwin’s treasurer. Cecilia Hurtado was secretary and newsletter editor.
Together they collected food and served meals to the homeless, processed thousands of textbooks for distribution, ushered at community concerts, assisted middle school and elementary schools among other activities.
Partial funding for the scholarships was donated in memory of Jerry Johnson, a former Chaffey teacher, counselor, and Kiwanian.
The Ontario club will also be electing officers for next year. The meeting will be at noon at the Iron Skillet, 805 N. Euclid Ave.
