FAYETTE, Mississippi – Three Jefferson County High School football players have now signed collegiate scholarships. Jaekwon Collins, Royale Shelvy, and Jaylin Brown all signed to play football on the next level last week.
Collins will be taking his talents to Southwest Community College. He finished his senior year with 101 tackles and nine sacks while starring at the Safety position. Royale Shelvy and Jaylin Brown both signed to Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. Shelvy threw for over 1,800 yards and 16 touchdowns. He also rushed for 1,652 and 21 touchdowns. Brown was one of JC’s top receivers as he caught 35 pass, 552 receiving and six receiving touchdowns.
“We could not be prouder of Jaekwon, Royale, and Jaylin,” said Dr. Adrian Hammitte, Superintendent of Jefferson County School District. “Their commitment to excellence both on and off the field is truly inspiring. They have not only excelled in their sports but have also demonstrated the kind of leadership and perseverance that we cherish in our scholars. This is just the beginning of a bright future for each of them.”

All three athletes played under Head Coach Roderick Holmes where the Tigers finished with a 9-3 record as well as winning a District Championship.
