KAHULUI, Hawaii (Island News) — The Construction Industry of Maui (CIM) just awarded $75,000 to three senior high school students planning to study construction and design.
CIM awarded the Bob Poulson Scholarship to Macie Madaus, Kai Shivley and Karissa Chapman. The scholarship encourages students to study construction and design and return to Maui to serve their community.
“This year’s scholarship recipients exemplify the highest standards of perseverance, intellect, and character,” said Anthony Nelson, CIM Scholarship Committee Chair and President of Rethink Restoration.
The scholarship honors Bob Poulson, a founder of CIM and a leader in Maui’s construction industry. To date, CIM has awarded more than $350,000 in scholarship funds to 15 Maui high school students.
Macie Madaus, from King Kekaulike High School, plans to study Construction Management at Colorado Mesa University. She is recognized for her academic excellence and commitment to sustainability.
Kai Shively, from Maui Preparatory Academy, plans to attend Williamette University, focusing on business and leadership. He is noted for his academic achievement and community involvement.
Karissa Chapman, from Kamehameha Schools Maui, will major in engineering at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. She is celebrated for her academic record, service, and leadership.
