The League of Women Voters of Moore County announced their Civic Leader Scholarship recipients for 2025 at their annual fundraising luncheon held at the Forest Creek Country Club in March. The three outstanding Moore County high school seniors are Hailey Price, of Pinecrest High School, who will receive a $1,000 Civic Leader Scholarship; Ceilidh Clendenin, of Union Pines High School, and Bailea Marley, of North Moore High School, who each will receive a $500 Civic Leader Scholarship. These students were selected based on their strong academic performances and evidence of their exceptional leadership and civic mindedness both in their schools and in their communities. The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan political organization whose mission is to empower voters through education and advocacy.
Price is a young woman who leads mainly by example, according to one of her teacher recommendations, “as a leader who exemplifies the changes she wants.” Price will attend UNC Chapel Hill where she plans to major in media and journalism with a concentration in public relations. Her longterm goal is to become a representative for a local nonprofit organization or business, where she can apply her excellent communication and writing skills. Concerned about the negative attitudes in our culture and in the media, Price wants to be a change agent by writing “optimistic, sincere stories of current events.”
