Tickets are on sale for the 36th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship and Prayer Breakfast taking place in January in Wichita Falls, according to a media release from the city.
A native Wichitan who is an attorney and retired Air Force major will be the keynote speaker at this year’s event.
The MLK Jr. breakfast will be at 7:45 a.m. Jan. 18 in the Ray Clymer Exhibit Hall at the Multi-Purpose Events Center, 1000 Fifth St. The breakfast serving line will open at 7 a.m.
Tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for children. They will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis, and no tickets will be sold at the door. Tickets are available for $25 online. Fees and sales tax bring the total cost up to $32.46 for an online ticket.
They can be purchased online at wfmpec.com via a link to Ticketmaster.
Tickets can also be purchased at the Texoma Community Credit Union Box Office at the MPEC or the MLK Center, 1100 Smith St.
Attendees requesting accessible seating should purchase a general admission ticket, according to Ticketmaster. You will be accommodated at the exhibit hall. All tickets are general admission.
Retired Maj. Rhonda L. Dawson attended Washington Carver Elementary School, Eastside Junior High School, Rider High School and Midwestern State University, according to the media release. Dawson recently retired after 18 years in human resources. She has lived in New Mexico for the last 27 years.
The breakfast raises funds for scholarships for graduating high school seniors and college students. The deadline to apply is Feb. 1. Applications and more information are available from the Wichita Falls Area Community Foundation at wfacf.org. Click on the “Scholarships” tab.
