First Credit Union recently announced the April recipients of its College Scholarship Program and Youth Financial Education Grant Program. One educator grant and four college scholarships were awarded to an educator and students at various Phoenix area high schools.
The scholarships, of $1,929 per winner, celebrate the founding year of First Credit Union and its 95th anniversary, were exclusively available to graduating high school seniors who are members of the credit union. This year’s 2025 student scholarship recipients included a West Point High School student pursuing a degree in general education at Northern Arizona University. Hailey, a senior, was recognized at a special reception on April 17.
First Credit Union also awarded a $1,000 Youth Financial Education Grant to Tiffany Denninger, a fourth- and fifth-grade educator at Isaac Online Prep Academy in Phoenix. Denniger’s grant proposal emphasized the importance of introducing financial literacy into the elementary school curriculum. Her mission is to equip students with financial skills to support their individual growth, professional success and economic contribution to their communities.
First Credit Union has awarded over $61,700 in scholarships and youth financial education grants, impacting the lives of 72 students and six educators across Arizona in the last 18 years alone.
“These programs are such a key piece of what sets apart a credit union from other financial institutions,” said Jay Curtis, President and CEO of First Credit Union. “Announcing these grants during Financial Literacy Awareness Month gives them special meaning, showing that it’s never too early to begin learning about saving and budgeting.”
Applications for the 2026 College Scholarship and Youth Financial Education Grant programs will open in August at firstcu.net/community. The deadline to apply is mid-February 2026, with recipients announced in March. Scholarships are available to Arizona high school seniors who are primary First Credit Union members and plan to enroll full-time at an accredited two- or four-year Arizona institution.
Through these initiatives, First Credit Union continues to invest in Arizona’s future — supporting students and educators who exemplify leadership, purpose and a commitment to their communities.
