The Tomorrow’s Leaders Undergraduate (TLU) scholarship programme offers students from 12 designated Arab countries the opportunity to earn a bachelor’s degree at one of three participating universities in Egypt and Lebanon. Citizens of Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestine (including Palestinians residing outside of the West Bank and Gaza), Syria, Tunisia, and Yemen are eligible to apply.
Students may enroll in a wide variety of four-year undergraduate majors available at the host institutions: the American University of Beirut (AUB), the Lebanese American University (LAU), and the American University in Cairo (AUC). See a list of all eligible majors here.
Applicants may indicate a preference for which university they wish to attend, but must be willing to attend any of the three. Final admission decisions are based on each university’s admission requirements and candidate selections.
The programme covers tuition and fees, accommodation, a monthly stipend, allowances for travel and other study-related expenses, and pre-academic preparation where required, such as English language training.
TLU aims to nurture a generation of civic-minded, intellectually capable, and professionally skilled community, business, and national leaders in the MENA region. Funded by the U.S. Department of State’s Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI), the programme equips undergraduate students with practical experience, enabling them to apply their academic knowledge to socially relevant challenges and research. Upon returning to their home countries, graduates join a network of more than 1,200 alumni who continue to play leadership roles throughout the MENA region.
