The Ripon Rotary Club, in collaboration with the Ripon Consolidated Fire District and South San Joaquin Irrigation District, will be hosting the annual Toy Duck Race on Thursday, Sept. 4.
Proceeds from this fundraiser will go towards trade school scholarships to recent graduates of Ripon High, Ripon Christian High, and – for the first time – Harvest High.
This is the fifth year that the local Rotary Club will award $1,000 scholarships to the recent high school graduates pursuing vocational schooling in plumbing, electrical, heating & air conditioning, and firefighting, to name a few.
Cost is $5 per duck or “four ducks for 20 bucks.”
Each of the toy ducks will be numbered sequentially, from one to 1,000, and dumped into the SSJID canal by local firefighters during the day of the race.
The winner with the first-place duck will have a choice at several gifts, including a Benelli Italian shotgun from Barnwood Arms, a gift card from American Social Restaurant, one case of wine from McManis Family Vineyards, and fairway golf clubs, to name a few.
The second- through fifth- place finishers, in that order, will follow with their choices of the remaining prizes.
Tickets are now available and can be purchased from any Ripon Rotary member or at the Bank of Stockton (234 W. Main St.) and Barnwood Arms (120 E. Main St.) during business hours.
