Residents had a chance to enjoy a day of shopping and food while supporting local students at a trade show organized by the Masonic Lodge on Saturday. Brittany Reeves, one of the event organizers, said the show featured a variety of vendors. “There’s a raffle. There are the vendors, a variety of vendors from baking to candles, and all of that. Just several different things,” she explained.
Food was also a big part of the day. Reeves said, “We have roast beef on a bun, and potato soup. There are hot dogs, hamburgers, and chicken burgers, and there’s a variety of drinks.” Attendees were able to enjoy meals while browsing the vendors and taking part in the raffle.
The event supports local scholarships. Reeves said, “For the scholarships, you can actually go through the student council, the counselor at the school, and they’ll show you these are the available scholarships. Certain ones are available to everyone, and certain ones that you have to have a Masonic family member.” She added, “I think last year they did four scholarships.”
Reeves said the event went smoothly and added that plans are already underway for another trade show next spring. “Just hope everything goes well. That’s about it. And doing another one next spring,” she said, noting the next show is planned for April.
