TROY will provide a scholarship to cover loss of Military Tuition Assistance for Term 2.
With federal funding for Military Tuition Assistance (TA) impacted by the ongoing government shutdown, Troy University is stepping up to ensure service members can continue their education without interruption through a TA scholarship for eligible service members.
“As a Marine, I learned you never leave anyone behind on the battlefield,” said Chancellor Dr. Jack Hawkins, Jr. “This is a time of uncertainty, but Troy University won’t let our military students face this challenge alone. We will proudly provide a scholarship equal to tuition assistance so that our service members’ educational goals are not disrupted.”
All previously approved Military Tuition Assistance for Term 2, 2025 has been cancelled by the service branches. Now, TROY will offer a scholarship in the amount typically paid through Military Tuition Assistance for any actively serving member who has applied for TA, or those receiving civilian military TA.
Military TA students will receive communication regarding requirements and how to use this benefit. The offer currently applies to TROY’s Term 2 enrollment period.
Military students will also continue to benefit from the TROY Military and Family Scholarship, which reduces tuition to the Department of Defense (DoD)-approved rate of $250 per credit hour, which assures there are no out-of-pocket tuition expenses for service members using TA. For active-duty military members, this scholarship also covers the cost of required course materials and textbooks through the Trojan Book Bag program.
“Troy University takes great pride in its long tradition of service to America’s military men and women and their families,” Dr. Hawkins said. “Because of this history, we understand the unique needs of military students and remain committed to helping them achieve their educational and career goals.”
