LAKEVILLE — The SouthCoast Community Foundation recently awarded scholarships to two Apponequet Regional High School students.
The two Apponequet students, Christina Magnett and Madeline Polochick, were two of 120 local students who received scholarships from the foundation. They each received $2,185 from the Leonard H. Chace, Jr. and Eleanor B. Chace Scholarship fund.
The over $800,000 in scholarships were awarded at a ceremony on May 27.
Scholarship recipients were considered by their academic achievement, leadership and community engagement, according to the foundation. These qualities “reflect the spirit and strength of the South Coast region.”
The foundation is a public charity that works with donors to use philanthropic funds to support local educational, humanitarian and cultural organizations.
“We are investing in more than academic success — we are investing in resilience,
leadership, and the future of Southeastern Massachusetts,” said President and CEO of the Foundation Melanie Edwards-Tavares.
