Rula received the National Navy ROTC scholarship and will be attending the University of Oklahoma where he will join the Sooner Battalion and major in either Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering. His Navy ROTC scholarship will be combined with various local and institution-specific scholarships for a total of $255,000 over the next four years. Rula will receive a monthly stipend of $250 in his freshman year and will get a $50 increase each year. His long-term goal is to be a Navy Pilot, flying the F/A-18 Super Hornet fighter jet.
Board was also awarded the National Navy ROTC scholarship where she will attend the University of Missouri and major in Biomedical Engineering. Her Navy ROTC scholarship will be combined with local and institution-specific scholarships for a total of $302,200 over the next four years. Broad will receive a monthly stipend of $250, which will increase each year. After receiving her commission, Broad plans to become a Naval Flight Officer where he job will be to navigate and operate weapons systems inside naval aircraft.
The scholarship covers the cost of obtaining a Bachelor’s degree at a participating university. After graduation, recipients receive a commission as an officer in the United States Navy or Marine Corps and will serve for at least five years after additional specialized training. Additionally, the Navy provides students with a monthly stipend that can be used at their discretion and summer internships at various commands, including submarine squadrons, air wings and surface action groups.
NJROTC scholarships are highly competitive among high school students. The most important factors for earning a scholarship are having a high GPA in high school, having excellent grades in math and science and having plans to obtain a degree in either a Tier I or Tier II Academic Major. Approximately 85% of Navy ROTC scholarships are awarded to students interested in engineering or hard science majors.
