MATTAPOISETT — Two recently graduated seniors from Old Rochester Regional High School were among the 120 local students honored with scholarships by the SouthCoast Community Foundation.
Mars Castro Colaj and Xavier Pateakos were awarded scholarships from the SouthCoast Community Foundation for their academic achievements, perseverance, leadership and deep community engagement.
“We are investing in more than academic success — we are investing in resilience, leadership and the future of Southeastern Massachusetts,” said Melanie Edwards-Tavares, the president and CEO of the SouthCoast Community Foundation, which awarded more than $800,000 to students this year.
“This year’s scholarship recipients shared powerful stories of perseverance, purpose and hope,” she added. “They are a true reflection of what makes our region extraordinary.”
