This Saturday, June 1, Evangeline Downs in Opelousas, Louisiana, will host Louisiana Legends Night, the marquee event of their 2024 racing season.
The program will feature six stake races for Louisiana-bred runners, each with a purse of $100,00 guaranteed.
In the spirit of Louisiana Legends Night, six Louisiana horsemen will be honored.
Additionally, the Louisiana Thoroughbred Breeders Association (LTBA) will award two scholarships on Saturday night, each valued at $1,000 to college students for a total of $2,000.
Requirements for the scholarship are as follows:
"This is another great evening of racing with some of the most exciting Louisiana bred racing of the year," said Roger Heitzmann, secretary/treasurer for the Louisiana Thoroughbred Breeders Association. "Legends Night is a special night not only for its stakes races but also for honoring the horsemen and women who have made Louisiana-bred racing what it is today."
