MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) – The U.S. Department of Energy awarded nuclear engineering scholarships to three Kansas State University students.
According to Kansas State University officials, three students in K-State’s Alan Levin Department of Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering received undergraduate nuclear engineering scholarships from the U.S. Department of Energy for the 2024-2025 academic year.
K-State officials said Ashleigh Mauler, senior in the concurrent bachelor’s and master’s program from Wichita; Stephen Warne, senior from Richmond, Minn.; and Landon Barner, freshman from Liberty, Mo., were chosen by the Department of Energy’s University Nuclear Leadership Program, or UNLP, to receive $10,000 awards for tuition costs and other school expenses.
Officials with K-State indicated the students were selected based on their alignment of career goals with the DOE Office of Nuclear Energy’s mission, academic strength and references. K-State was one of only 12 universities to have at least three students win UNLP undergraduate scholarships for the upcoming academic year.
K-State officials noted more information about these awards, which are part of more than $19 million awarded by the DOE this year to support students and faculty working in fields relevant to nuclear energy, can be found HERE.
