BEAUMONT, Texas — The U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas will award $2,500 in scholarships this afternoon to finalists in its 2025 Law Day Art Contest, celebrating the theme “American Energy.”
The ceremony begins at 2 p.m. in Courtroom No. 1 on the second floor of the federal courthouse at 300 Willow Street in Beaumont.
Open to high school students in grades 9 through 12 from public and private schools in Hardin, Jasper, Jefferson, Liberty, Newton and Orange counties, the contest invited original art reflecting positive interpretations of the theme. 
Submissions were judged on originality, design, technique, content, appeal and adherence to the theme.
Scholarships will be awarded as follows: $1,000 for first place, $750 for second, $500 for third and $250 for fourth.
Winning and honorable mention artwork will be framed and displayed at the courthouse for the next 12 months.
Law Day, established by President Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1958, is celebrated nationwide on May 1 to recognize the importance of liberty, justice and equality under the law.
