HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – The University of Hawaii is awarding a record $5 million for Hawaii Promise Scholarships at UH Community Colleges this year.
Students enrolled in the fall and who are Hawaii residents are eligible for consideration.
They must also complete FAFSA for the upcoming fall semester by July 1.
The funds will help to cover direct education costs not met by other forms of financial aid, including tuition, fees, books and supplies.

Last year, nearly 2,000 students across the seven UH Community Colleges received the scholarship. The average award per student over $2,100.
The Hawaii Promise Scholarship has helped more than 8,600 UH community college students since the program started in 2017.
