James Madison Program Undergraduate Fellows Osamede Ogbomo ‘25 and Matthew X. Wilson ’24 have received the 2025 John and Daria Barry Scholarship for study at the University of Oxford.
The Barry Scholarship began in 2019 and is awarded to the leading students of the U.S. in recognition of their dedication to the pursuit of truth.
Ogbomo, a senior student at Princeton concentrating in Politics, will read the MPhil in Politics (Political Theory) at the University of Oxford. Her undergraduate thesis examines the biblical narrative of King David and explores how conceptions of the divine or transcendent can constrain—or fail to constrain—the ambitions of statesmen.
Wilson will read the MPhil in Politics: Political Theory at Wadham College, University of Oxford. He graduated magna cum laude from Princeton in 2024 with an A.B. in Politics and certificates in Medieval Studies and Hellenic Studies. At Princeton, he was awarded the Stephen Whelan ’68 Senior Thesis Prize for Excellence in Constitutional Law and Political Thought for his thesis on liberal theories of public justification.
Ogbomo and Wilson will begin their studies at Oxford in the fall of 2025.
