Addesyn Underwood of Adams was awarded a $1000 scholarship from Keep Tennessee Beautiful. She joined eight other seniors from across the state in receiving this significant scholarship.

Underwood is a senior at Rossview High School in Clarksville and is a member of the National Honor Society and Mayor’s Youth Council. She is part of a student-led initiative focused on protecting and maintaining the environment, including litter cleanups in her community. Underwood plans to attend The University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
“Our scholarship program is one of the most exciting initiatives we have launched as an organization,” Executive Director Missy Marshall, Keep Tennessee Beautiful, said. “Awarding nine students this year, three from each grand division, is a major milestone for us. These students are all about giving back and making a difference. It’s an honor to help support the next generation of environmentalists.”
In addition to Underwood, the Middle TN recipients are McCarlee Eubank from Woodbury and Tessa Foster from Flintville. West Tennessee winners include Bryant Simpson from Germantown, Desean Tackett from Memphis, and Avery Ritter from Trimble. East Tennessee is represented by Namrata Thadani from Gatlinburg, Weston Brown from Greeneville, and Christian Rymer from Cosby.
The awards were announced in March as part of Keep Tennessee Beautiful Month.  The Three Grand Divison Scholarship program was launched in 2024 with three winners, and tripled in 2025 to honor three students from each grand division.
Proceeds from KTnB’s annual Ready. Set. Grow! 5K event and from the sale of the book, “Nancy and Sluggo Love Tennessee: A Story About Keeping Tennessee Beautiful,” a hard-bound children’s book illustrated and written by Cartoonist Guy Gilchrist, help make the scholarships possible.
The Keep Tennessee Beautiful Three Grand Divisions Scholarship celebrates and honors the rich culture and geographically diverse East, Middle and West regions of the Volunteer State. This program supports graduating Tennessee high school seniors who demonstrate a strong commitment to environmental, social and economic sustainability through academic pursuits to positively impact the planet.
The Keep Tennessee Beautiful Three Grand Divisions Scholarship embodies the Keep Tennessee Beautiful mission of educating and inspiring Tennesseans to take action every day to improve and beautify their community environment by nurturing the next generation of environmental stewards through this scholarship opportunity.
