TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— The Union Health Foundation announced they will be finishing out 2024 having given more than 50 grants and several scholarships totaling over $750,000.
This is in an effort to enhance education, assist with community health initiatives, and improve patient and family care throughout the Wabash Valley. The funding was made through donations from Union Health employees, community assistance, and business partners. Some notable projects this money was used for are new wheelchairs, oral and bladder cancer screening resources, Telemetry patient monitors, car seats and pack-and-plays for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Mother-Baby Unit, pediatric therapy scholarships, and personal hygiene supplies for the street medicine clinic.
“The impact of these grants extends far beyond our organization,” said Becky Miller, President of the Union Health Foundation. “Thanks to the Service League of Union Hospital, we have received additional resources that have been awarded through the League’s wish list program, including NICU isothermal blankets, diversional activities for pediatric patients and a Maxi Move patient lift for Union Health Clinton. Together, we are building a healthier community.”
The funds also went toward a collaboration with Terre Haute Police Department and other partners to support a social worker program to address the needs of those who are vulnerable in our community. The Union Health Foundation states they are dedicated to increasing access to health care, supporting innovative health programs, and assisting with community wellness.
