Clarendon provides more than 200 annually renewed, fully-funded scholarships to support exceptional graduate scholars. Additionally, it offers the chance to become a part of Oxford’s vibrant, globally diverse, and interdisciplinary community, which is among the most active.

INTRODUCTION

The Clarendon Fund derives its name from its close relationship with Oxford University Press (OUP) and in honour of an act of philanthropy by the Earl of Clarendon.
Alongside OUP, Clarendon receives a lot of support from the many of Oxford’s colleges, academic divisions and departments, University trust funds, and external partners. Known as Partnership Awards, this collaboration allows the costs to be spread between multiple sources enabling additional fully-funded scholarships to be awarded, and providing over £8.9m per year to the Fund.

ELIGIBILITY

There are no restrictions by nationality or country of ordinary residence. Clarendon scholars come from across the world: from the USA to Australia, Venezuela to Vietnam and from Norway to Nigeria. The student needs to demonstrate the following:

  • Outstanding academic record
  • Future potential and aptitude
  • Student motivation

FUNDING

The University’s sole objective in choosing Clarendon scholars is to select the finest students globally, determined by experts in their respective fields.

  • The Clarendon Scholarships encompass complete coverage of tuition fees and college expenses.
  • Those enrolled in full-time courses will receive a substantial yearly stipend for living expenses, set at a minimum of £17,668 for the 2023-24 academic year.
  • Part-time course participants will be provided with a study support grant to help cover expenses other than fees.

Typically, these scholarships are extended for the entire duration during which you are responsible for University tuition fees, aligning with the length of your course.

HOW TO APPLY

If you submit an application for a full- or part-time master’s or DPhil program at Oxford by the December or January deadline for your specific course, you will automatically be in the running for a Clarendon Scholarship.
There is no need to provide any additional documents specifically for the Clarendon Scholarships, as there is no separate application form for this award.
However, it is crucial to ensure that your application is submitted before the December or January deadline (5 or 19 January 2024) for your course if you wish to be considered for the scholarship.
