The Department of Education is investigating the University of Nebraska Omaha among other universities for “alleged exclusionary scholarships.”
The investigation is looking into whether UNO, the University of Louisville, the University of Miami, the University of Michigan, and Western Michigan University are giving out scholarships that are only for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA).
The Department of Education said the investigation is based on complaints “submitted to OCR by the Legal Insurrection Foundation’s Equal Protection Project, which seeks to ensure equal protection under the law and non-discrimination by the government in any form.”
The complaints alleged the UNO’s Dreamers’ Pathway Scholarship is providing “unlawful exclusionary funding on national origin.”
The investigation is also looking into UNO’s HDR Scholarship.
