Four Kentucky College of Optometry students recently received a scholarship from National Vision.
Four University of Pikeville-Kentucky College of Optometry students were awarded scholarships from National Vision.
This, according to a statement from UPike, marks the second year of National Vision’s pledge to KYCO to provide $20,000 in scholarships annually for five years, totaling $100,000.
The scholarship funds four incoming first-year optometry students interested in practicing in rural communities, each receiving $5,000.
The scholarship recipients for the 2024 academic year are Kyle Boyette, Jordan Buchanan, Amber Burton and James Davie. Dean of KYCO Renee Reeder, O.D., FAAO, FBCLA, FSLS, FIACLE, the statement said, is proud of the four winners and is thankful for the relationship KYCO is building with National Vision.
“Congratulations to our four outstanding first-year students on their remarkable achievement in winning the National Vision Scholarship, highlighting their dedication and passion for the optometry field,” said Reeder. “We are also deeply grateful for the continued partnership between KYCO and National Vision. Together, we are shaping the future of eye care, creating opportunities for the next generation of optometrists to excel and make a lasting impact on the communities they serve.”
The scholarship presentation event brought together students, staff and faculty to celebrate the achievements of this year’s recipients and recognize the positive impact of National Vision’s contributions to KYCO, the statement said.
