The Vail Edwards Rotary Club has announced the recipients of the 2025 Rotary Scholarships. Applications came from 50 students representing all the Eagle County high schools.
“All of our applicants were worthy,” said Mike Glass, chairman of the Rotary scholarship committee, noting that “the criteria included a personal essay, GPA, financial need, volunteer work and community activities, job and school involvement, and letters of recommendation.”
The club has awarded $78,500 to 14 students this year. The total includes four students who were awarded four-year stipends and 10 returning students who received one-year scholarships. Notable among the group is a student who is deferring college for a year to train for the Paralympics.
“We recognize that the cost of higher education has continued to rise substantially in recent years,” Glass said. “This year, we decided to award four multi-year scholarships that will provide the winners with the stability of more substantial financial assistance. Staying connected to the students and investing in them over four years will have a more material impact on the cost of their education and help them create a deeper connection to the community and the Rotary Club. In the future, Vail Edwards Rotary Club will award only four-year scholarships.”

The Vail Edwards Rotary Club is comprised of 70 members focusing on the Rotary motto of “Service Above Self.” The scholarship program has existed for more than 50 years and is supported by the club’s fundraising efforts. Rotary unites people from all continents and cultures and has 1.4 million members who come together to strengthen their connections to friends and neighbors with a commitment to improving lives.
The Vail Edwards Rotary Club meets weekly at 7:45 a.m. Thursday mornings at Harvest Restaurant in the Sonnenalp Golf Club in Singletree.
