Valley Builders hosted its 5th Annual Women in Construction Luncheon, which was held on March 26, with over 300 attendees. This event brought together professionals, industry leaders, laborers, and supporters to celebrate the achievements and contributions of women in the construction industry. This year’s event highlighted the role of women in healthcare and utilities within construction, centered around the theme: The Future is Ours to Build.
This year’s keynote speaker was Dina Kimble, President, CEO, and Partner of Royal Electric, a certified women-owned business. With over 25 years of experience, Kimble has led the company’s substantial growth, expanding its presence to regional offices in Sacramento, Pleasanton, Long Beach, and Dallas, Texas. In addition to Kimble, panel speakers Arlene McNaul, Project Engineer at Kaiser Permanente; Mindy Meyer, Electric Distribution Superintendent at PG & E; and Michelle Reimers, owner of Michelle Reimers Consulting and the first woman to serve as General Manager of Turlock Irrigation District (TID),
shared their perspectives on the challenges and opportunities facing women in construction today.
Valley Builders Exchange contributed $7,000 in scholarships, with an additional $4,000 provided by Cole Concrete Sawing and Drilling, Inc., Platinum Pipeline, Inc., Ross F. Carroll, Inc., and C & N Reinforcing, Inc. bringing the total to $11,000 in scholarships. These funds support several women pursuing careers in construction-related fields. By providing financial assistance, these scholarships help bridge the gender gap in an industry that has traditionally been male dominated. More than just financial aid, they serve as an investment in the future of the construction industry and the careers of talented women.
2025 Women in Construction scholarship recipients include: Paige Carr, Cal Poly, Bella Carrera, UC Merced, Cassandra Farr, NorCal Carpenters Union Apprenticeship, Allison Martin, San Jose City College, Abigail Moulyn, Modesto Junior College, Carmen Ramos, San Joaquin Valley College, Brenda Sanchez, San Joaquin Valley College, Paige Sipes, ABC NorCal Apprenticeship, Erica Sisk, San Joaquin Valley College, Stephanie Storey, ABC NorCal Apprenticeship, and Oshen Turman, NorCal Carpenters Union Apprenticeship.
